Day Five
Bob, Scott and Sarah walking the talk.
We started off our Sunday morning by attending the early service at Good Shepherd (Episcopal) with the added bonus of one of the finest messages Bob and I have ever heard offered by Reverend Josh. After passing out t-shirts to everyone, we enjoyed snacks, conversation and a blessing before heading out on the gradual downhill towards Tacoma.
The wonderful welcomers at Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd.
Wonderful surprises awaited us….first, Scott’s wife Beckie (our support vehicle driver) and my wife Chris met us for lunch and resupplied us with more t-shirts and cookies, then my lifelong friends Lance and Graham tracked us down along the road and stopped long enough to get a t-shirt and a cookie.

One of the parishioners at Good Shepherd had alerted us to a closed bridge which required us to make a long detour. That would’ve been no huge deal if we didn’t then miss an important turn and head off for an unexpected additional mile or two. Sigh…
Pastor Jonathan (on the right) greeted us, fed us, and left us with a blessing.
But we made it to Tacoma and up the steep hill to Urban Grace, a beautiful old church with a stone tower. pastor Jonathan was there to greet us warmly and offer us a meal and blessing. What a privilege to be invited into the lives of these people we are meeting along the way.
